Group Update: June 11, 2014

Sorry for the silence, everyone – it’s been a busy month! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Contrib2Core Kicked Off

Contrib2Core 1.0

Our first-ever Contrib2Core meetup!

Our first-ever Contrib2Core meetup took place at the Ryerson DMZ last night. (Kudos to Sidekick for providing the space.)

Led by Tom Auger and Paul Bearne, this was a hands-on workshop that dove into the WordPress SVN and Trac.

From Tom’s forum post:

Contrib2Core V1.0 took place on Tuesday June 10, 2014. It was held in the Ryerson Digital Media Zone, generously sponsored by the Sidekick / WPUniversity team. About 15 WordPress developers showed up, learned about Trac, Vagrant, the developer repository and ways they could contribute to core development. Beers were enjoyed afterward at a venue nearby.

Contrib2Core Version 2.0 will be held on the second Tuesday of July. We are looking to adjust the format in an effort to make the session more productive. We are looking for your input. Please see the Contrib2Core V2.0 post in this form to continue that discussion.

You can join the discussion for July’s Contrib2Core 2.0 on the forums, and RSVP for the event on Meetup.com.

WordCamp Toronto 2014 is Back On Track

Planning resumed last week for this year’s annual #WCTO event:

Starting today our organizing team will be holding bi-weekly meetings to work through tasks and get things done.

Short-term goals include publishing the call for speakers and sponsorship details.
