Longtime WPToronto members may recall that we used to host afternoon meetups on the second or third Saturday of every month.
Our first regular venue was at the back of Pauper’s Pub near Bloor & Bathurst. As the group grew, we migrated to other venues like the Toronto Public Library.
In the years since then our group has continued to grow. We have more organizers, more members, and more events than ever before. And now that we’re officially part of the global WordPress Meetup chapter program, we expect there to be more new faces showing up.
With that in mind, we’ve rebooted the weekend WordPress series, creatively dubbed “WordPress Weekend”. (Original, right?)
Kicking off with an open call for suggestions.
Our first WordPress Weekend meetup of the year was held this past Saturday at the Duke of Kent pub in midtown Toronto. On the agenda: Coming up with topics and activities for the rest of the year, plus finding volunteers to help make it happen.

Please vote for whatever interests you the most. You can choose more than one activity. If you’ve got other suggestions that aren’t shown above, please leave a reply with your ideas!
We also made some announcements.
As already mentioned, WPToronto is now part of the global WordPress meetup chapter program. This program is administered by the same fine folks who look after WordCamps.
As a member of the program, we have their support for handling everything from finding venues to settling disputes. We also have the privilege of appearing in the WordPress dashboard, which is a pretty nifty perk!
We’ve talked about joining the meetup chapter program for a while, and finally pulled the trigger on it last fall.
Join our next WordPress Weekend meetup!
Our next event will be held on February the 17th. Location is still TBD but we’re working on securing space with the Toronto Public Library.
